Winsted Police Report

Nov. 19 – Assisted the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office with a car deer accident in the area of County Road 1 and Highway 7.

Nov. 20 – Assisted the Lester Prairie Police Department with an arrest warrant.

Nov. 22 – Investigated a driving complaint in the area of Pheasant Run. The vehicle was not located.

Nov. 22 – Responded to a burglary alarm in the area of Kingsley Street South. Everything checked out okay.

Nov. 23 – Assisted the Winsted Ambulance with a medical in the area of Lake Drive. The person was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Nov. 24 – Investigated a damage to property call at the Winsted Elementary School. Two signs where damaged and they were valued at approximately $125.00. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winsted Police Department.

Nov. 24 – Assisted the Carver County Sheriff’s Office with a police matter.

Nov. 25 – Took a report of NSF checks at a local business. This matter is being investigated by the Winsted Police Department.

WEEKLY TRAFFIC REPORT

There were nine verbal warnings issued for various traffic offenses. There was one citation given for Speed; one citation was given for Expired Drivers License; one citation given for Headphones on while driving; one citation given for Seatbelt.

Workplace Safety - Business

Traveling In and Out of the Workplace

• When driving to and from work ensure that a different route is taken. Vary the route and time of ay in which you travel and make arrangements to travel.

• If being followed drive to the nearest police or fire department and report the suspicious activity to the authorities.

• Ensure that you partner with someone when entering and exiting the building.

• Do not enter a building alone therefore wait in a car and/ or lighted area (if dark) until a partner arrives for entrance into the building.

• If there is any unusual parking lot/ building activity call 911 to report the incident and/ or leave and find a phone to call the incident in for further investigation.

Safety at Work

• When entering the building if anything is noted as unusual/ suspicious immediately exit the building and call 911 to report the said incident.

• Do not take the garbage out at night and ensure that all back entrances have been secured.

• Ensure that at leas two people are on at one time as there is a partner in the building.

• Ensure that all store keys can be accounted for and partner with your supervisor if there is a concern that a key is missing, lost or has not been returned by a previous employee.

• Ensure that the entire location has been vacated prior to locking the building, which would include all public areas i.e. restrooms, community areas, etc.

• Leave interior lights on and interior doors open to promote visibility to areas out of plain view.

• Ensure thorough background checks have been completed on all employees prior to hiring and/ or utilize a probationary period if prior information is noted on file.

• Communicate the importance of having an emergency call list and partnering with local law enforcement to ensure the management team contact information is on file.

• Know the location of: Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kits, Bloodborne Pathogens and HazMat Kits if deemed appropriate per your facility.

• Ensure that the appropriate management team is included on potential external risks i.e. No Trespass Orders, Orders for Protection, etc. in case there is a need to execute those orders.
